Empowering Every Voice Through Inclusion

A Letter from the President of the Board of Directors

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As an ABA Therapist with Uniquely Enough, I have found that access to Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices—paired with meaningful training and follow-up—directly reduces frustration, increases independence, and improves overall quality of life for the individuals we support.

What truly sets Simple Acts of Compassion apart from other nonprofits is its commitment to long-term success: we work with insurance companies on your behalf, ensuring families understand how to use communication tools effectively and feel supported beyond the initial delivery. This compassionate, person-centered approach aligns seamlessly with evidence-based practice and creates lasting, meaningful outcomes for both clients and caregivers.

At Simple Acts of Compassion, we believe that communication is not a privilege—it is a fundamental human right. As President of the Board of Directors, I have had the honor of witnessing firsthand the profound difference that access to communication can make in the life of a child, an adult, and an entire family.

What sets Simple Acts of Compassion apart is not simply what we do, but how we do it. While many organizations provide services, we focus on lasting empowerment. We don’t just place a device in someone’s hands and walk away. We ensure that each individual is truly supported—through personalized AAC solutions, family and caregiver training, and continued follow-up—so that communication becomes a sustainable part of everyday life.

Our organization was founded on the belief that small, intentional actions can drive transformative change. At Simple Acts of Compassion, we listen deeply to the families we serve, especially those who have been overlooked or underserved. We understand that every individual’s communication journey is unique, and we design our programs with dignity, respect, and compassion at the center.

As a Board, we are committed to responsible governance, transparency, and ethical leadership. Every decision we make is guided by the voices of the community we serve and by measurable outcomes that reflect real progress, not just activity. We take stewardship seriously, ensuring that every donation, partnership, and resource is used thoughtfully and effectively.

Simple Acts of Compassion is more than a nonprofit—it is a promise. A promise to advocate for those who cannot always advocate for themselves. A promise to remove barriers to communication. And a promise to create meaningful, lasting change that extends beyond a single moment or service.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with us as we work to ensure that every voice is heard. Together, through simple acts of compassion, we are building a more inclusive and connected world.

With gratitude and hope,

Douglas Bast
